New York City-based trumpeter-singer Benny Benack III is our Live Music Friday guest. He's in town for two shows tonight.

BONUS MUSIC: Benny Benack III, 'Bennie's From Heaven'

Current State's Live Music Friday guest today is Benny Benack III. Benny’s a singer-trumpeter out of New York City. Tonight, he’ll perform at a show called “Nighthawks.” The program is sponsored by the Summer Solstice Jazz Festival. Benny played at the festival in 2014. The show features local male vocalists including Freddie Cunningham, Benjamin Hall and Dee Hibbert. The music starts at 7 p.m. at The Robin Theatre, and a second show has been added at 9.

Benny is accompanied on our show by pianist Franchesca Romero. Live from WKAR's Studio S, Benny Benack III performs an original piece called "Kiss Me Slowly."

Scott Pohl has maintained an on-call schedule reporting for WKAR following his retirement after 36 years on the air at the station.
