MI murder stories told in ‘Blood On the Mitten’

Some of Michigan’s most notorious murders took place nearby. Current State’s Brooke Allen speaks to local author Tom Carr about his most recent book, "Blood on the Mitten."

There is a new book out based on murders that took place in Michigan. While horrifying, murder is somehow fascinating, especially when it is true and local, and that is exactly what "Blood on the Mitten" is all about.

Current State's Brooke Allen talks with the book's author, award winning journalist Tom Carr.

Carr says some of Michigan’s most notorious murders hit the national spotlight. One of them was "The Burning Bed," starring Farrah Fawcett. The 1984 TV movie told the story of Dansville’s Francine Hughes, who committed murder on March 9, 1977.

Brooke Allen served as local producer and host for Morning Edition, from June 2016-March 2018.
