Q: How are you doing since school returned in various formats?

A: I would hope the answer would be, “I’m fine.” Yet, I know when this question is asked of me, oftentimes I’m not fine.

Guess what -- it is okay! Because not being fine in the moment does not mean you’re not strong and resilient. Need proof? Well, whether you’re a parent, a caregiver, a grandparent or an educator, navigating all that 2020 has thrown your way is clear evidence of your strength and resilience.

Schools have been in session nearly a month. It takes a tremendous learning curve to navigate COVID-19’s “new for now” normal. Rapid innovations and changes keep my head spinning but as a mom and educator, I know I am not alone and hopefully you know this too. Each day our team here at WKAR is developing, promoting and providing programming to help kids believe in themselves and learn lessons that last a lifetime. I would encourage you to take a pause and co-view with your children some of our excellent programming. For educators using a quick clip may be a great virtual tool for continued engagement. Then when the day is done, enjoy some our programming for yourself. My new favorite is Somewhere South. It’s so good.

I hope you know you’re not alone.  I’m here to not only answer your frequently asked questions but also hear how WKAR can help our community with education resources and supports. This is an open invitation for families and educators to email me questions and any comments or suggestions to fulfill that purpose.
