Local Support Group for LGBTQ+ Youth to Host First Ever Pride Event in Vermontville

Vermontville Youth Pride will be a FAMILY-FRIENDLY event, featuring musical guests Nikki Holland & the Dirty Elizabeths, opening act Ellie McIntosh, a writer’s workshop, Art & Words contest, educational resources for parents and youth, fun and fantastical vendors, Disney Singalong, food and more!

I’ll Be Your Rock Support Group for Rural LGBTQ+ Youth was created by lifelong Vermontville resident, Christine Terpening, after she came out publicly in her 40s. She realized how important early support for LGBTQ+ kids can be - reducing instances of suicide attempts by as much as 60% - when youth have even one person that accepts their identity. I’ll Be Your Rock is a group of LGBTQ+ adults, other allies, and parents who meet monthly in a discreet setting to provide support, acceptance, and compassion to rural teens from all over the area. In the future, I’ll Be Your Rock hopes to be able to support the start-up similar groups in other rural areas.
