Thunder on the Grand is a nonprofit that raises money for young cancer patients in Michigan by throwing a huge annual event. This year’s theme is “Mad About Cancer,” with Mad Max inspired activities. We find out all about it in today's Neighbors in Action segment.

There are many organizations and efforts aimed at fighting cancer and contributing to cancer research, but Thunder on the Grand is focused on helping with another important side of cancer: medical bills.

The Michigan non-profit raises money for children with cancer whose families are financially struggling, and they do so in an unconventional way: with a huge annual event that offers everything from motorcycle races to slip 'n slides.

For Neighbors in Action today we talk with Thunder on the Grand founder Loreen Wickens, and Jen Fuller, the mother of 10-year-old Layla Kaye, who has been diagnosed with bone marrow failure. Fuller is also involved with the Be The Match donor marrow program.
