Grief can be difficult to handle on a regular calendar day, but how do you cope during the holidays? We talk to a bereavement counselor from Lansing Area Hospice and a local woman who is coping with the holidays as she approaches the first anniversary of her husband’s death.
The holiday season is supposed to be merry and bright, but for some it could be a time of sadness and heartbreak if they are coping with the loss of a loved one. They say there are five stages of grief: anger, denial, isolation, depression and finally acceptance. Some people will deal with these in exactly this order, others will not.
Current State’s Brooke Allen goes to Hospice of Lansing’s Stoneleigh residence to talk with Rev. Kris Abbey of Lansing area Hospice and others about coping with grief.
