WKAR media partner WLNS-TV reports a former Lansing police officer is charged with sexual assault and distributing obscene material to children while at a local high school.
Prosecutors charged Matthew Priebe with second-degree criminal sexual conduct and other charges today.
WLNS-TV reported students expressed concerns in May of last year. Priebe resigned from Lansing before the department finished its internal investigation.
WILX-TV reported the assault victim is a graduate of Lansing Eastern High School, who reported Priebe would talk and touch her inappropriately.
Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski told WLNS-TV that the department removed Priebe's policing authority as soon as they were made aware of the allegations.
"To say that I'm disappointed would be an understatement, but I think it's important to know and understand that he doesn't represent the entire organization," said Chief Yankowski to WLNS-TV.
The Lansing School District confirmed to WKAR News that it is conducting its own investigation but did not have any other information.
