A week after unveiling $10-million message boards at Spartan Stadium, MSU trustees have authorized more planning for football facility upgrades.
WKAR's Scott Pohl reports.
Football-related improvements at the north end of Spartan Stadium would include locker room upgrades, an area for visiting athletics recruits, and new media facilities.
MSU President Lou Anna Simon says it also was important to adhere to recommendations from the Department of Homeland Security to push entry gates away from the stadium.
"That gets queuing further away," President Simon continues, "so if you identify a problem, you're away from the concourse, and moving the perimeter."
President Simon estimates that final estimates for the project will come in between $10-million and $20-million. The athletic department would foot the bill.
In an unrelated vote, trustees approved planning for a new filming tower at the practice football field.
