Carol Yancho

Television Senior Producer/Director

As senior producer/director, Carol Yancho leads WKAR’s talented team of original content producers. She also develops and produces content for WKAR including the Emmy® award-winning kids science program Curious Crew, Curious About Careers, and the WKAR Family series.

Carol joined WKAR as a TV producer in September 2016.

Prior to joining WKAR, Carol worked on a wide range of docu-style, reality, home renovation, and true crime series for HGTV, Animal Planet, Lifetime, A&E, TLC, Investigation Discovery, and others.

Carol Yancho is a proud Michigan State University alumna, graduating with a BA from the School of Journalism. Returning to East Lansing has allowed her to combine two of her passions: television production and her love for MSU.

Carol Yancho is a seasoned producer, writer, and director with a diverse background in television series production, network and local news, and media relations. Yancho joined WKAR as a Producer/Director in 2016, after living 15 years in New York City and Philadelphia.

Yancho has leveraged her experience as a storyteller to contribute to the quality of WKAR’s production team, earning an Emmy nomination and winning a Michigan Association of Broadcasters Excellence Award in 2018. She is the Producer of WKAR’s Emmy-Award winning content Curious Crew and Curious About Careers, and the WKAR Family platform. 

While on the East Coast, Yancho worked on a wide range of docu-style, reality, home renovation, and true crime series for HGTV, Animal Planet, Lifetime, A&E, TLC, Investigation Discovery, and others. When her WKAR schedule allows, Yancho continues to travel abroad to direct episodes of HGTV’s long-running and popular show House Hunters International. 

Prior to working in episodic TV production, Yancho worked in both network and local news. As a field producer for CNN she traveled cross-country covering stories of national prominence, including the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks in NYC and the 2000 Presidential Election Recount in Florida. She began her news career here in East Lansing as an intern at WLNS and went on to work at WJRT in Flint and as a morning show producer at WDIV in Detroit.
