Former Vice President Joe Biden wants Michigan residents to know what’s at stake for the November election. Biden was in Lansing Thursday night to hold a rally for Democratic candidates.
It was something of a somber rally. Biden spoke in a hushed voice due to what he said was laryngitis.
Biden held the audience’s quiet attention while speaking about the importance of service and the need to overcome violence and hatred.
But Biden was able to speak up to tell the crowd why they have to vote on Tuesday.
“We have to make it clear that we Democrats choose hope over fear," said Biden.
He spoke at length about recent violence and attacks happening in the U-S. Pipe bombs were recently sent in the mail to Biden and other prominent Democrats.
Last week there was also a deadly attack on members of a synagogue in Pittsburgh.
“The only thing strong enough to tear America apart is America itself, and we’ve seen it start," said Biden. "We have to make it stop. That’s what Tuesday’s all about. Get the hell up. Go out and vote. Take it back, now, now, now, now.”
Biden's rally promoted several top of the ticket Democrats – including gubernatorial candidate Gretchen Whitmer and Congressional candidate Elissa Slotkin.
Republican candidates were scheduled to have a visit from President Trump’s counselor Kellyanne Conway. But Conway wasn’t able to come due to what party officials say was an “aircraft malfunction.”
Michigan Republicans candidates also recently had a visit from Mike Pence.
