Curious Crew Returns for Fourth Season

Feb 1, 2018

Curious Crew returns for its fourth season on Monday, February 5 at 5:30 p.m. on WKAR HD 23.1.

The WKAR original series takes a hands-on approach to investigating principles of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) with host Dr. Rob Stephenson and a cast of inquisitive kids.

“Dr. Rob Stephenson and the Curious Crew explore some terrific STEM themes this season including center of gravity, sense of hearing, basketball science, chocolate chemistry and more!” said Tim Zeko, WKAR TV executive producer.

Dr. Stephenson is the writer and host of this WKAR award winning children's science program. When asked how each show’s topic is decided, Dr. Stephenson shared it was determined by an assortment of sources, such as the Michigan Science Standards or a phenomenon in the world.

“When we let ourselves notice the world around us, we can't help but question how and why things work and behave the way they do,” said Dr. Stephenson. “Investigating them further and answering those questions seems like the perfect next step.”

More than 240 aspiring scientists visited the MSU campus in May of 2017 for chance to audition for season four of Curious Crew. Cast hopefuls and their families came from areas near Detroit, Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, Mt. Pleasant and as far away as Indianapolis, Indiana.

“Our Curious Crew cast is wonderful to work with,” said Zeko. “Their love of science and enthusiasm for learning is inspiring and energizing.”

Dr. Stephenson agreed with Zeko in how it has been a privilege to work with a diverse group of kids, who are not only inquisitive, but, also persistent.

The new season includes 10 new episodes, each featuring a Curious About Career with Curious Crew cast member Janellyn Woo. In these segments, fans can look forward to learning about careers in robotics engineering, kinesiology and much more.

Each Curious Crew episode in the series also includes a set of Curiosity Guides, a step-by-step guide that kids, parents and educators can use to do their own investigations at home or school.

WKAR could not agree more with Dr. Stephenson in that, “It is an honor for us to be sharing season four with so many viewers!”

The air schedule for the fourth season will be Mondays 5:30 p.m., weekends 10:30 a.m. and Saturdays 5:30 p.m. on WKAR TV.

Episodes will also become available for on-demand viewing as each is broadcast, in the PBS channel on most devices including Roku, Apple TV, Amazon Fire, iPad/iPhone and online at  All episodes from seasons one, two, and three are available now.
