Dia de los Muertos provides the backdrop for the Ixion Theatre production of "The Amazing Jesus"

We attend a rehearsal of the Ixion Theater’s new production, “The Amazing Jesus,” a Latin-American fable from a Lansing playwright.

Around the same time as Halloween, there is a large celebration of Mexican heritage called Dia de los Muertos. It deals heavily with the remembrance of ancestors and loved ones who have passed on. It is that celebration which surrounds a new play in Lansing, courtesy of the Ixion Theater, although there’s also a good heaping of “The Wizard of Oz” as well.

The play is called “The Amazing Jesus,” and Current State’s Jamie Paisley attended one of the final rehearsals before the play opens this weekend.
