There is a new Medical Marijuana ordinance in Lansing.

According to WLNS-TV, the city council passed the ordinance by a vote of 5 to 3.

The ordinance places a cap on medical marijuana provision centers and dispensaries at 25.

Back in May, WKAR News reported estimates of 40 medical marijuana dispensaries in Lansing but no one knew the total number for sure at City Hall.

The ordinance will not take effect until October.

A state board is also working on rules to regulate the industry across Michigan.
