Erik Lindquist is challenging Brixie for Meridian Township Treasurer.

In Meridian Township, where CATA’s proposed Bus Rapid Transit plan has encountered resistance, voters can choose between candidates for Treasurer who disagree on the BRT. We ask candidates Julie Brixie and Erik Lindquist why they support or oppose, and why residents should vote for them.

Meridian Township voters will decide on a number of important elected officials on November 8th. The Treasurer’s contest is especially interesting.

Incumbent democrat Julie Brixie has been a supporter of CATA’s Bus Rapid Transit proposal. The plan has drawn sharp criticism in the township, with the Board of Trustees deciding to formally to oppose it. Brixie’s opponent, Erik Lindquist, is a BRT opponent and not running as a Republican or Democrat.

To make matters more interesting, Lindquist is a former CATA official.

Current State talks with both candidates.
