MSU alum portrays Tiger great Ernie Harwell at Wharton Center

In 'Ernie,' the legendary Detroit Tigers play-by-play announcer is portrayed by Peter Carey.

A play inspired by legendary Detroit Tigers play-by-play man Ernie Harwell is coming to East Lansing. "Ernie" was written by author and Detroit Free Press columnist Mitch Albom. It opens at MSU's Wharton Center on August 19th. Current State contributor Russ White talks with the actor portraying Harwell, Peter Carey.

“Ernie” is coming to East Lansing. That would Mitch Albom’s acclaimed play about legendary Detroit Tigers broadcaster Ernie Harwell. In the last few years, Ernie has become the longest-running play in Detroit theater history.

MSU alumnus Peter Carey will portray Harwell at his alma mater when the show comes to the Wharton Center, August 19th through the 22nd.
