MSU Football Signing Day 2019

MSU Athletics

On Wednesday afternoon Michigan State football head coach Mark Dantonio introduced 20 high school athletes who signed national letters of intent to play for the program.

According to 247Sports, the Spartans class ranks 27th nationally and seventh in the Big Ten. MSU has a lone five-star recruit in Belleville High School (Belleville, Michigan) offensive lineman Devontae Dobbs, who is just the third five-star recruit to sign with the Spartans since Dantonio took over the program prior to 2007. William Gholston and Malik McDowell, both also from Michigan, are the other two.

Cornerback Julian Barnett, also from Belleville High School, is the lone four-star recruit for the Spartans. Barnett and Dobbs were the first two players to get their signed letters to campus.

The class is heavy on offensive lineman and Dantonio says it's the most impressive group he's recruited at that position in his 12 years with the program.

Three-star recruits like Nick Samac (Mentor, Ohio), J.D. Duplain (Strongsville, Ohio), Damon Kaylor (Huntington, Indiana), and Maverick Hansen (Farmington, Michigan) are included in the class.

Alante Brown, wide reciever from Chicago, Illinois (plays quarterback at Simeon Career Academy), is the only Michigan State commit yet to submit his signed letter. The Spartans are expecting to receive the letter from his high school.
