Voters in several mid-Michigan school districts will consider funding proposals Tuesday.

A bonding proposal in Holt would allow the school district to borrow up to $148-million and issue general obligation bonds. Under the plan, Sycamore and Dimondale elementary schools would be reconstructed on their current sites, and other buildings would get technology upgrades and improvements to athletic fields and playgrounds. Hope Middle School, built in 1926, would be closed as a school building. The tax rate would go down by 1.77 mills from current levels.

The Waverly schools bond proposal would not increase current taxation levels. It would set in motion $125-million in borrowing to pay for larger capacity in elementary buildings, upgraded mechanical systems, and security improvements including cameras and door lock systems. Pool facilities at Waverly East would be renovated.

In Okemos, there are two proposals. The district is asking voters to renew 18 mills on homestead properties. Other properties like businesses would pay 19.8 mills. And the Okemos sinking fund proposal would continue for slightly less than one mill over ten years to finance building repairs, security improvements and technology upgrades. It would bring in $1.4-million a year for a decade.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
