It has been reported by ESPN that Michigan State University paid $1.2M to settle lawsuits brought against the university by a former female student athlete, identified as "Jane Doe," and former football player Keith Mumphery, related to an alleged sexual assault and Title IX investigation. Should Mumphery feel vindicated, or upset, that the situation has derailed his pro football career? We discuss on today's Current Sports with Al Martin Segment of the Day.
MSU paid the "Jane Doe" $475,000 while Mumphery received $725,000, according to the documents obtained by ESPN. A settlement was reached in May.
Mumphery's MSU career ended in 2014, and he alleges that the situation has costed him a job in the NFL. He was picked by the Houston Texans in the fifth round of the 2015 NFL Draft and was released in June 2017, just after the Detroit Free Press reported on the alleged sexual assault.
