WKAR Public Media has learned that former MSU Director of Broadcasting and WKAR General Manager Steven Meuché passed away January 23, 2019, at age 74.
Meuché began his career at MSU in 1965 as a radio producer/director, eventually became the general manager of WKAR radio stations, and then was named director of MSU Broadcasting Services in 1989. He retired from MSU in 2004, after leading the public broadcasting TV station's transition to digital television.
Meuché was a member of the board of directors of National Public Radio and the president of the Michigan Association of Public Broadcasters, among other distinguished positions in radio and television communications.
Meuché received B.A. and M.A. degrees in telecommunications from Michigan State University.
