Voters will head to polling places on Tuesday to narrow the field of candidates in November. In some places, they’ll consider ballot proposals.
In Lansing, it's a city council election year. The race for two at-large seats will be reduced to four candidates, with five names on the ballot. Yanice Jackson-Long, Terry Eagle and Julee Rodocker are challenging incumbents Carol Wood and Patricia Spitzley for a spot on the November ballot.
Third Ward council member Adam Hussain is running unopposed.
In Jackson, Mayor Derek Dobies hopes to be re-elected. Also on the ballot Tuesday are Jeromy Alexander and Cindy Eby. One candidate will be eliminated Tuesday.
There’s also a mayoral election in Flint. Mayor Karen Weaver is seeking another term; Gregory Eason, Sheldon Neely and Don Pfeiffer are her opponents.
There are also several proposals going before voters on Tuesday. They include a Redi Ride millage renewal and a street improvement bond proposal in Meridian Township, school millage renewal plan will be considered in Potterville, and police and fire millage renewal proposals in Napoleon and Summit Townships.
