WKAR-TV's 'QuizBusters' program will pit classical music experts against each other at a taping this week.

The WKAR-TV program "QuizBusters" is taping some special episodes this week. Classical music is the focus of one of the programs pitting teams featuring WKAR-FM music hosts Jody Knol and Jamie Paisley along with others contestants. Current State talks with "QuizBusters" host Matt Ottinger.

For more than a quarter of a century, WKAR’s "QuizBusters" has celebrated students from mid-Michigan high schools in a fast-paced question and answer contest. "QuizBusters" host Matt Ottinger brings his A-game every week. Saturdays at 5:30, 6 and 6:30 p.m. on WKAR-TV and Wednesday at 8, 8:30 and 9 p.m. on WKAR World.

In addition to the high school competitions, "QuizBusters" produces an annual special edition featuring well-known adult members of the local community.

One of this year’s Special Editions becomes even more specialized with Wednesday’s 6 p.m. taping of "QuizBusters Classical." It’s the first ever classical music-themed edition of the show.

Members of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra, MSU College of Music and WKAR music hosts will square off on two teams to compete for Mid-Michigan classical bragging rights. You’re invited to attend Wednesday’s taping at the WKAR studios.  Admission is free and doors open at 6 p.m.

Current State's Peter Whorf talks with "Quizbusters" host Matt Ottinger about the special and some show history.
