WKAR Wins Regional EMMY and National Telly Awards

WKAR Public Media staff at Michigan State University were recently honored with three regional Emmy® awards and three national Telly Awards.

The 2018 Regional Emmy Awards were announced by the Michigan chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences on June 16, 2018, at the MotorCity Casino in Detroit.

The Emmy in the category Children/Youth/Teens – News Feature was awarded to Tim Zeko, executive producer for Curious About Careers

Rob Stephenson, host and writer, for the Curious Crew was awarded the Emmy® for Talent - Program Host/Moderator.

The Emmy award in the category Graphic Arts-Graphics was awarded to Dan Wogan for his work on Curious Crew.

WKAR also took home three honors at the national Telly Awards, announced in New York on May 22, 2018. The Telly Awards is the premier national award honoring video and television across all screens. Established in 1979, The Telly Awards receives over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and 5 continents.

WKAR was awarded bronze in Children's Programming for Curious Crew #307: Rockets.

In the Education category, WKAR won bronze with WKAR Family sizzle reel.

WKAR won silver in the Food & Beverage category for The Perfect Cup of Coffee.
