Democratic Michigan Sen. Gary Peters won reelection Wednesday, defeating Republican challenger John James in a tight race.

Polls show an increasingly tighter race for Michigan's junior Senate seat between Democratic incumbent Sen. Gary Peters and Republican challenger John James. Some experts say the Senate race may be closer than the presidential race in Michigan.

With nearly 20 days to go until the November election recent polls show Democratic Senator Gary Peters and Republican challenger John James as neck and neck. Peters’ ten-point lead in the polls over the summer has winnowed to single digits.

In the U.S. Senate race Democrat Incumbent Senator Gary Peters is polling ahead of his Republican opponent, but continues to be outraised. Senator Peters spoke to WKAR about the race and the biggest issues voters are facing during the coronavirus crisis.

Republican John James is vying for one of Michigan's U.S. Senate seats for the second time. WKAR's Abigail Censky talked to the candidate about the race and his priorities for Michigan as part of a two-day series talking to the U.S. Senate candidates ahead of the August primary.

Republican challenger John James raised $6.4 million over three months in his campaign in Michigan for the U.S. Senate, again topping Democratic incumbent Gary Peters, who collected $5.2 million.
