This week is dedicated to getting Michigan families prepared for tornadoes, floods and other forms of severe weather.
Would you or your family know what to do if a tornado or flood warning was issued for your neighborhood?
On Wednesday at 1:00 p.m., sirens sounded around Michigan during a statewide tornado drill. WKAR radio and stations across Michigan aired emergency tones followed by bulletins announcing the test.
This week, meteorologists, government leaders and first responders hope you will take action to be ready for tornadoes and other severe weather scenarios. Governor Rick Snyder proclaimed this Severe Weather Awareness Week in Michigan.
Already this month, mid-Michigan has experienced flooding. Last week, a tornado with more than 100 mile per hour winds destroyed property and trees in Kent county.
