By Scott Pohl, WKAR Radio News

EAST LANSING, MI – EAST LANSING, MI (WKAR) A major construction project on US-127 in Ingham County begins with some lane closures today.

Over the next few months, about four miles of US-127 from I-96 to I-496 will be affected by resurfacing and bridge repair projects, with a budget of $7.6 million. 60,000 drivers use the highway every day.

Bridges crossing over Jolly, Forest, and Mt. Hope roads will be repaired, and the Dunckel Road bridge over the highway will also be repaired. Lanes will have to be closed on those roads while the work is being done.

Officials plan to suspend work over the 4th of July weekend, and then resume through the fall. After the holiday weekend, much of the work will be done during overnight hours.
