East Lansing, MI – East Lansing, MI (MPRN) - Test scores in math rose for the fourth year in a row in the Michigan Education Assessment Program.

The 2008 MEAP test results were released Thursday.

While math, social studies and writing all showed higher test scores, reading scores saw some incremental slips in past years.

Marty Ackley is with the state Department of Education.

He says MEAP scores are a diagnostic tool for the schools.

More than 75% of students in grades 3-8 scored "proficient or above" in math.
