Lansing, MI – Lansing, MI (WKAR) - Lansing became a General Motors town a century ago. GM bought the Olds Motor Works in 1908. In those 101 years, GM gave jobs to thousands of people in Lansing and together, they built millions of cars.

WKAR's Scott Pohl spoke with Oldsmobile archivist Jim Walkinshaw about GM's history in Lansing. He worked for Oldsmobile for 33 years. Along with Helen Earley, known as "The First Lady of Oldsmobile," Walkinshaw wrote "Setting The Pace: Oldsmobile's First 100 Years."

They began by talking about GM's peak employment years in Lansing.
