Government posts sensitive list of US nuclear sites

By AP

WASHINGTON (AP) – WASHINGTON (AP) - A government official says national security was not compromised when a list of government and civilian nuclear facilities was accidentally posted on the Internet.

The 266-page document was published last month as a transmission from President Barack Obama to Congress. Among the sites mentioned in the posting were a storage facility for highly enriched uranium at the Oak Ridge National Lab in Tennessee and some sites at the Hanford nuclear site in Washington state.

Some of the pages were marked "highly confidential safeguards sensitive."

In playing down the incident, a spokesman for the National Nuclear Security Administration said the posted document had been reviewed by a number of U.S. agencies and there was no disclosure that threatened national security.
