FBI says at least 3 arrests made in wider Detroit probe

By AP

DETROIT – The FBI says at least three significant players in a broader federal investigation have been arrested in the Detroit area.

FBI spokeswoman Sandra Berchtold says the arrests were made early Wednesday. She says details about the case would be released at a 12:30 p.m. news conference in Washington with Attorney General Eric Holder and Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius.

Two men and a woman were led in handcuffs from the federal building in Detroit into a government van. The woman identified herself as Bernice Brown.

She says she is "totally innocent," and her arrest was related to Medicare fraud allegations. The two men didn't comment.

Berchtold says more people were targeted in the investigation in the Detroit area, but declined to release details.
