LANSING, MI – About 800 Lansing autoworkers return to their jobs today after an extended layoff.

A prolonged period of weak Cadillac sales has kept General Motors' Grand River assembly plant idle since late June. But GM Lansing spokeswoman Heidi Magyar says a popular federal incentive is raising the demand for cars.

"If you check with dealers, you hear that they have a great response going on with 'Cash for Clunkers' and also with some of the lease opportunities that are opening up," Magyar says.

Last week, the automaker announced the expansion of leasing with a program through U.S. Bank. Several offers are geared to people who buy Cadillacs.
