East Lansing, MI – As the Michigan State football team continues to prepare for their opening game against the Bobcats of Montana State this Saturday, one of the big question marks facing Head coach Mark Dantonio was who would be the starting quarterback.

The race to determine who would replace the graduated Brian Hoyer under center entering the season for the green and white has been a very competitive throughout the spring and summer.

In one of the hardest football decisions Coach Dantonio has ever had to make, he announced Sophomore Kirk Cousins the starter over Red Shirt Sophomore Keith Nichol.
