DETROIT – About 9,200 Michigan utility customers remain without power after wind gusts of up to 61 mph battered parts of the state.
The high winds originally left nearly 110,000 DTE Energy Co. and Consumers Energy customers throughout the Lower Peninsula without electrical service on Wednesday.
DTE spokesman Scott Simons said Thursday about 4,000 outages remain scattered throughout Wayne and Oakland counties, but power should be restored by later in the day.
Jackson-based Consumers Energy said 5,200 customers in western and northwestern Michigan are without power.
They said most customers should have power restored by late Thursday, but in the hardest hit counties of Allegan, Muskegon, Ottawa, Kalamazoo and Kent it may not return until Friday.
