Ingham Commissioners vote on budget Tuesday

By Gretchen Millich, WKAR News

UNDATED – Ingham County Commissioners will vote Tuesday on the proposed 2010 county budget. The proposal calls for closing Raynor Park in Mason to make up for a budget deficit.

Commissioner Todd Tennis says negotiations are continuing to possibly turn the park over to the City of Mason. He says no final decision will be made until Commissioners get an appraisal on the park property.

"We need to have an idea of the value of the property for our negotiations with Mason and, if that falls through, for whatever else we might do with the park," Tennis says. "So, it's just part of making sure we fulfill our responsibilities to the taxpayer that we're getting the most value we can."

The budget also includes cutting some positions in the Sheriff's Department and the Health Department. The meeting begins at 7:30 PM Tuesday at the county courthouse in Mason.
