DETROIT, MI –
Michigan health officials say they're expanding the availability of swine flu vaccine to all residents by next week.
The Michigan Department of Community Health announced Tuesday that the general public will be eligible to get H1N1 vaccine by next Monday. Health agencies previously had concentrated on target groups at higher risk for swine flu.
The department says demand has ebbed for the vaccine among those groups, which include pregnant women, health workers and people 6 months to 24 years old.
The announcement comes as health officials reported another seven influenza-related deaths in Michigan. It is blamed in the deaths of 66 people in the state since April 1 and 56 since Sept. 1, when swine flu began gaining steam.
