DELTA TWP, MICHIGAN –

Ten Lansing-area car dealers gathered at General Motors' Delta Township assembly plant Thursday to drive some of the first locally-made Chevy Traverses back to their lots.

Matt Sloan is General Manager of Graff Chevrolet in Okemos. He says the addition of the Traverse to the Lansing line-up has caught car-buyers' attention.

"You know, it's been in the news quite a bit lately and they wanna buy local, they wanna buy from Michigan," he explains. "They wanna buy something that's built right here in Lansing. So, you know, we'll be able to tell the customers, you know, 'Hey, it was built 6, 7 miles away.'"

Delta stopped production of the Saturn Outlook as part of GM's restructuring. Workers have been making Traverses instead for about a week. The plant continues to make the Buick Enclave and the GMC Acadia. It moves to 24-hour a day operations beginning April 5.
