MSU women play Kentucky tonight

By AP

LOUISVILLE, KY – Kentucky coach Matthew Mitchell says he's not quite sure what freshman star A'dia Mathies will do for an encore.

Mathies poured in a career-high 32 points on Saturday as the fourth-seeded Wildcats knocked off 13th-seed Liberty in the opening round of the NCAA women's tournament. Kentucky plays fifth-seeded Michigan State on Monday.

It will be difficult for Mathies to top her breakout performance, but Mitchell says he's not worried about Mathies trying to one-up herself. Mitchell says Mathies' maturity is one reason she was the Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Year.

Michigan State coach Suzy Merchant expects to see Mathies in the WNBA, but believes her team's NCAA tournament experience will play in its favor against Kentucky.
