East Lansing, MI – Land use experts are inviting the public to learn how they can identify Michigan's best physical and natural resources to make the state a more prosperous place to live.

Michigan State University is leading a research project that will ask people all over the state to think about what makes a vibrant community. Starting Monday, organizers are offering 100 free training programs to help people identify strategies to position their regions for state and federal funding.
Soji Adelaja directs MSU's Land Policy Institute.
"It's necessary to get back to the drawing board and say, what do we have, what can we be good at, and what do we have the resources to be able to be first at?" says Adelaja.
The first training session in mid-Michigan takes place Tuesday night in East Lansing. The sessions will run through mid-June.
