Dillon gets Teamsters endorsement in governor race

Democratic House Speaker Andy Dillon has picked up another union endorsement in his bid to become Michigan's next governor.

Michigan Teamsters Joint Council 43 endorsed Dillon on Thursday. The union represents more than 90,000 members and retirees in the state.

Dillon is running against Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero in the Aug. 3 Democratic primary. Bernero also has received union endorsements including one from the Michigan AFL-CIO.

Republicans running for governor are Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard, Attorney General Mike Cox, state Sen. Tom George, U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra and Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder.
