MARQUETTE, MI –
Northern Michigan University says 2010-11 tuition will increase 2.9%.
The Board of Trustees at the Marquette school on Friday approved an increase that makes the annual cost for full-time resident undergraduates $7,864, a 5.5% increase from the previous rate.
But the school said the increase will be offset by a tuition credit in the fall thanks to $1.3 million in federal stimulus funds. This means the annual cost is $7,672, or the 2.9% increase.
The rate approved by the board for full-time resident undergraduates is $205 more per semester. But the fall increase will be reduced to $13 after the school applies the stimulus credit.
Northern says it has the second-lowest tuition and fees among Michigan's public universities.
