Poll: GOP race is between Cox, Snyder, Hoekstra

With just days left until the Aug. 3 primary, the Republican race for governor is a three-way contest between Ann Arbor businessman Rick Snyder, Attorney General Mike
Cox and U.S. Rep. Pete Hoekstra.

In the poll by Lansing-based EPIC-MRA released Thursday, 26% of likely Republican primary voters backed Snyder, while 24% supported Cox and 23% preferred Hoekstra. Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard is backed by 10%, state Sen. Tom George by 1%, and 14% are undecided.

The telephone poll of 400 likely Republican voters statewide was conducted Monday and Tuesday for the Detroit Free Press and TV stations WXYZ, WJRT, WOOD and WILX.

It had a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 4.9 percentage points.
