Detroit schools boost enrollment campaign efforts

By AP

Detroit, MI – Detroit Public Schools officials are planning another aggressive campaign to keep students and boost enrollment.

The state's largest district says it plans to announce a redoubling of its "I'm In" enrollment campaign.

The community and neighborhood-based effort is expected to include celebrity visits and citywide events. A refurbished mobile enrollment vehicle will crisscross the city's neighborhoods and suburbs over the next month.

Last year, district emergency financial manager Robert Bobb went door-to-door through city neighborhoods speaking with parents. Comedian Bill Cosby also volunteered to appear in a series of public service announcements and gave a performance for parents and students at one of Detroit's high schools.
