Republican gubernatorial candidate Rick Snyder won't co-sign a letter with his Democratic rival urging Congress to back President Barack Obama's proposed tax breaks for businesses.
The Democratic president proposed the plan that would make it easier for small businesses to get loans at low interest rates some time ago, but it's stalled in the Senate.
Snyder first said he had to study the plan. But on Wednesday, he told Howell radio station WHMI he won't sign the letter.
Democratic gubernatorial candidate Virg Bernero asked Snyder on Tuesday to join him "in a bipartisan way" to urge Congress to act on the measure once it returns to session next week.
Snyder called Bernero's request "political gamesmanship."
