LANSING, MI –
The Pure Michigan ad campaign is one step closer full funding for the year. A state House panel has approved additional money to keep the ad campaign on air through the busy tourism months.

Funds for Pure Michigan could be the first thing the Legislature approves this year and sends to Governor Rick Snyder for his signature.

Representative Wayne Schmidt sponsored the measure.

"There's a couple things out there - item pricing and a couple other things - but this certainly is a priority of the governor's so I think it'll be one of the first bills he signs," he says.

Snyder called on lawmakers to approve additional money for Pure Michigan, as well as eliminate the state's item pricing law, which requires shop owners to put price tags on items on their shelves. Schmidt says he thinks a House panel will approve an item-pricing repeal next week. He says lawmakers want to make sure they hear all of the concerns surrounding the measure, including how to make sure people are not overcharged for what they buy.
