Small plane with 4 people crashes at Mich. airport

By AP

FLINT, MI –

Four people aboard a Detroit-to-Wisconsin flight have survived a plane crash during an emergency stop in Flint.

Spokeswoman Pat Corfman at Bishop International Airport says the twin-engine plane arrived without an engine Wednesday, landed and then flipped. She says the plane came in "too fast" and the pilot lost control on the runway.

Corfman says four people were injured but walked away from the crash.

The Piaggio P180 plane belongs to Avantair, which offers private travel through fractional ownership of aircraft. The company says the plane departed Detroit and was bound for West Bend, Wis., with two passengers and two crew members when the pilot declared an emergency.

Avantair says it will cooperate in any investigation. It declines further comment.
