High winds that toppled trees and tree branches onto power lines have cut power to about 100,000 homes and businesses in southeastern Michigan.
DTE Energy said in a tweet that its crews were working to restore power to about 47,000 customers who remained without power as of 5:30 a.m. Monday.
The utility says those crews had earlier restored power to about 70 percent of the nearly 155,000 customers who lost power when high winds swept the region Sunday and early Monday.
Consumers Energy, meanwhile, says its crews were working Monday to restore power to nearly 52,000 customers.
The outages came after winds gusted to more than 60 mph and produced blowing snow as a strong low-pressure system pushed across the northern Great Lakes, creating blizzard conditions in the Upper Peninsula.
