A new online grocery service is making its debut in the Lansing area.

San Francisco-based Instacart is already in about 85 urban markets in Michigan.

The company is part of a growing retail industry that allows shoppers to place and pay for their orders electronically and then have their groceries delivered to them.

Area Operations Manager Megan Zigler says they have a diverse field of clients.

“We do have people that have mobility issues, we have people that don’t have cars; and then we also offer it as a convenience to people that just hate shopping,” says Zigler.

Instacart joins competitor Shipt in the Lansing metro area.

The company will operate from local CVS, Petco, Kroger and Meijer stores.
