Mayor James Barnes from the Ionia county community of Portland talked with WKAR during the "Mondays with the Mayor" segment.

Portland is known for being midway between Grand Rapids and Lansing. Barnes has been the mayor of the community for 15 years.

He said many people know Portland for being a fast-food restaurant exit but there's much more to the community of 3300 people, including trails, scenic bridges and annual summer beer fest.
