Something had to give. Two 0-5 teams squared up when Lansing Eastern drove south to Lansing Everett, and the Quakers gave way. The home Vikings posted a shutout while racking up 35 points in a game that ended in a running clock, 35-0.

Everett entered halftime up 16-0, and although the Quakers made strides down the field in a two-minute drive, they ultimately were held back by penalties and rudimentary mistakes.

The game ended on the same note, with an interception thrown to the Vikings concluding what looked to be a promising drive.

Up 28-0 in the fourth quarter, running Patrick Ellis scored his second touchdown of the game. After a successful extra point, the running clock rule took effect.

Three other Vikings crossed the goalline throughout the lopsided game.

Vikings head coach Chad Foster said the win was especially important for Everett given that it was Senior Day. Now 1-5, the Vikings will play their next three games on the road, starting next week against East Lansing.
