Basketmakers from around Michigan are in Lansing this week for their annual convention. Current State’s Scott Pohl takes us there to see what’s in store.

The art of basketmaking is on display this week in Lansing. The Association of Michigan Basketmakers annual convention is underway, with artists and hobbyists alike gathering to show their projects and pick up a few tips at the Causeway Bay Hotel. The public is welcome to stop by today and tomorrow.

Current State’s Scott Pohl gained admittance yesterday to have a look at what’s in store. He speaks with convention coordinator Leslie Spurrier, and with JoAnn Kelly Catsos, who’s in town from Massachusetts to teach black ash basketry.
