East Lansing city officials say they're pleased with the public input they're getting about what to do with some prime downtown real estate.Administrators heard more on Friday regarding the four-plus acres at Grand River and Abbot dubbed the "Park District Planning Area."
City Manager George Lahanas says many participants in the 'community conversations' support a mixed-use plan.
"Where you have a residential (component), where you have an entertainment (component) perhaps or a commercial space in the downtown, perhaps office," he says. "Because it makes for a really lively environment."
Lahanas says city planners will use the input and create a 'request for proposal' within about 45 days.
